Walgreens Shopping Plan ~ Week of 4-28-13
Here is my Walgreens Shopping Plan week of 4-28-13. The important thing to remember about couponing at Walgreens is you must have the same number of items as you do coupons. Your Balance Rewards do not count as a coupon but Register Rewards do. So if you are using 5 coupons, you must have 5 items in that transaction.

Nice 1 dozen large egg $1.29 (This is my filler item. Because I am using 3 coupons, I need to purchase at least 3 items and I need eggs so problem solved)
Total = $6.27
Use 5000 Balance Rewards points. I will still have 1000 for next week
Final out of pocket = $1.27
So my total out of pocket is $8.15. Now, if you were keeping all of the paper towels, your total would be $15.02.
Now remember, this is just what I am buying. I don’t have a ton of space to have a five year stockpile. My stockpile is usually about 6 weeks worth. There are still many, many deals to take advantage.
However, those of paper towels (the 9 roles I’m paying for) will last me probably 1 year. We use very few paper towels for two reasons. One, they are expensive and two, it takes trees and other resources to produce those things. So my family uses “real” napkins. I have purchased most of them at World Market on the clearance aisle over time with coupons, of course. For cleaning, I use microfiber towels. I bought a package of 50 at Costco for $5. The towels and napkins each have their own basket. When the basket is full, I just toss them in the wash. We have saved hundreds of dollars by making these 2 small changes. Jason, Coty’s husband, teases me about my napkins. He says, I am being “fancified”. No, I am just being frugal!
